Saint Augustine Lightner Museum

Performance Painting Contractors, Inc. was awarded the contract for the exterior painting of the Historical Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Fla. The museum is a distinguished landmark of the Historical St. Augustine downtown District and expresses various meanings to those in the area.

The owner of Performance Painting, Jason Parker, wanted to have the opportunity to paint the Spanish renaissance style architecture because it holds special meaning to him. The former Alcazar Hotel is not only a place of history, but it is also a place where many come to celebrate events, most of which are weddings.

“In 2001, I married the love of my life at the Lightner Museum. Having this opportunity for my company as well as myself gives me tremendous pride. The experience of restoring beauty to this symbolic structure is a true honor,” said Jason Parker, owner of Performance Painting Contractors, Inc.

Performance Painting will be painting portions of the exterior woodwork of the museum. While Performance Painting is painting the exterior, Childers Roofing will be removing the original barrel tiles, replacing the roofing below and then reinstalling the original barrel tile. The museum will have a dedicated crew of six and work is expected to be completed by the month of July.

“Currently the general public sees scaffoldings and covers, but once those come down, the building will be in its natural state with updated paint for all to see and enjoy,” said Raymond Bryant, project manager for Performance Painting Contractors Inc.
